TIS TESTING VERIFIES ENERGY COST SAVINGS IN REAL-TIME

1st Verification Method: TIS Performance Testing

POWERGEN approximates energy cost savings from TIS test results because TIS test periods are short snap shots in time (3 hours at most) with no specific utility billing information as compared to utility billing periods which are metered for 30 days and supported by utility billing statements.

Since commercial and industrial electricity consumers are billed for all kWh consumption hours, the highest 30 minute peak kW demand during a utility billing period, monthly reactive demand kVAR and power quality.  POWERGEN conservatively approximates XL System energy cost savings from TIS test results by using the TIS measurements below and applying them to a customer’s prevailing utility billing rates and tariffs.

  1. 100% of the reduction in Real Power (Watts or kW)
  2. 40% of the reduction in Apparent Power (VA or kVA)
  3. 100% of the reduction in Reactive Power (VAR or kVAR)

2nd Verification Method: Comparing Normalized Electric Bills

The energy cost savings attributable to an installed XL System can also be verified by comparing monthly electric bills in the “Performance Period” with the same historical monthly electrical bills in the “Baseline Period” after they (the Baseline Bills) are normalized to “Performance Period” conditions.

POWERGEN uses Metrix 4 Utility Accounting Software to normalize and compare “Baseline Period” and “Performance Period” monthly electric bills.
